Point Foundation was started in 2006 by Charles Trace, whilst he was Chief Operating Officer of UK vending operator company Coffee Point.

Coffee Point were passionate about their Corporate Social Responsibilities, supporting active visits to a number of orphanages in both Bulgaria and South Africa.

Through Guy and Roger Bellamy, Charles and Coffee Point became involved with the Lily of the Valley & Makuputo Orphanage projects in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, inspiring them to do more.

In 2007 the Foundation became a registered charity, formalising the development of new projects. A Board of Trustees and Directors was formed, involving interested parties from the vending & catering industry and the name Point Foundation was chosen to acknowledge Coffee Point’s ethical legacy.

During 2007, the PF Chairman visited Rwanda on a tea sourcing trip and was introduced by Imporient Tea & Pfunda Tea Company to the hundreds of children living nearby at the Noel Orphanage. Their needs were so desperate that Point Foundation immediately responded.

Over the next 7 years Point Foundation remained a major donor to the orphanage and still supports many of the children, youth and disabled who lived there.

PF were delighted when Sally Gunnell OBE accepted the role of Patron in 2008 and became involved with projects and fundraising. Her husband, Jon Bigg was also an active Trustee until 2014.

2013 saw the introduction of coffee as a PF funding provider through annual purchases of Rwandan beans to export to the UK by the Caffe Praego Coffee Company. Donations from every case sold go back into supporting educational projects in schools and centres near the plantations, giving back to the coffee farmer’s communities.

In 2017 Point Foundation was humbled to receive an award from the Rwanda University of Tourism and Business, in recognition of their significant contribution to student’s education over the years.

Now a well-established charity, the Foundation has developed many working relationships with other national and international organisations and NGOs. Today, Point Foundation remains committed to raising funds and providing direct support for over 5,000 vulnerable children living in social poverty in Rwanda and South Africa.
